What is it?
At the heart of GORE-TEX® fabric is an extremely thin membrane that's durably waterproof, windproof, and breathable. It has over 9 billion pores per square inch. To construct a GORE-TEX® laminate (fabric), they bond the GORE-TEX® membrane between high-performance lining and shell textiles. Every stitch in a seam is a potential leak. That's why for durable waterproofness GORE-TEX® products rely on GORE-SEAM® tape applied by specially trained manufacturers in certified factories.
How does it work?
The 2-layer construction, designed for a wide range of outdoor activities, uses a specific GORE-TEX® membrane bonded to the outer material and protected on the inside by a separate lining. The separate lining ensures better wearing comfort and versatility.
The 3-layer construction, designed for more demanding activities, uses a specific GORE-TEX® membrane sandwiched between the outer material and backer material. 3-Layer provides added durability without additional weight or bulk.

AirExchange
What is it?
Marmot’s new AirExchange Lining technology is designed for use with the new generation of breathable insulations and 2 layer air permeable waterproof / breathable fabrics. With a CFM of 27 it is twenty times more breathable then our current lining fabrics.
How does it work?
AirExchange’s performance is engineered through the construction of the fabric. A unique weaving technique allows for the construction of this highly air permeable fabric while maintaining its structure integrity.

Marmot’s AirExchange lining supercharges the performance of any air permeable garment with enhanced breathability and moisture movement. Greatly increasing the wearers comfort through a wide range of actives.
